The Snake Charmer, Henri Rousseau, 1907
Among the jasmine blooms
where woods are deep
my flute calls for surrender
to my four snakes
hope, love, joy and prosper
From the green lake
and murmuring hollows
twisting and turning
they come to me, helpless
at the lure of my tunes
But I have no venom
I’m a silky maiden
merely playing my pipe
on a cold night
when the moon whispers
fiery lust in the bushes
My words blush
so I play my flute
to swathe my naked desire
I turn into a snake charmer
not silently wooing
serpentine beings
but naively enticing
virile senses

"four snakes
hope, love, joy and prosper"
Profound!
my words blush...ha...nice touch...i like your snakes...they bring much themselves beneath that fiery moon....smiles.
Gosh this is very strong, erotic, charming, revealing, tempting, brilliant word control - well done!
Wow. This was wonderful. Sensual stuff. : )
This is quite the steamy poem! Like it.
Sensuous thoughts to allay fear of waiting arms from 4 likeables which might just happen. A alluring tune is all it needs.

P/S thanks for dropping by
Snakes though generally are detested creatures, are also seen in poetry and philosophy as symbols of desire, lust, amour , positive energy, etc.
You seem to have evoked in the verses a feel of intense desire .And a strange mood in the settings under the moon.
I think one has to read the poem a few times more to let the feelings sink.
Thanks
I like the four snakes :) he he he
Nice poem loved it
Bikram's
very strong piece! i like it quite a bit.
Very sensuous take on the prompt.
Beautifully veiled eroticism. Excellent poem.
I love how you've turned the snakes into something entirely unexpected here. Very nice.
baapre:)
A sensuous interpretation - nice Magpie.
enchanting
Sensuous and silky, the warmth and spiciness of India shines through.
This was a very sensual poem, very tastefully written and with quite a powerful bite, lack of venom notwithstanding!

Love the "Silky maiden"..very enticing, indeed!
I loved the idea of charming those four rather snaked of life. Well written.
hii
ohh my! I loved the essence and deepness of this poem :)
Ooooooh! How I wish I could get away with referring to myself as a 'silky maiden' these days. *sigh*. A captivating, pulse quickening poem!
How wonderful, many thanks for sharing.
E T,
I think this is my first visit. Read all current posts. Loved Just me and Just you. So cat was out of bag in Hidden secrets. A real twist in Cold Summer Evening. Felt so sad for her who made so much of sacrifice. Such is life showed that no matter how we feel when down, there is always a ray of hope. Do people really change with time shows old habits die hard. Friends will be friends. Your poems show depth.
Take care
